about

Forastero is like the title of their first single – a scuba diver on a roof. It's music that sound exiled, dislocated, travelling from its birthplace to unexplored territories, where it starts shifting shape.

Forastero is a jazz double-bass player rockin' hard, a funk pianist bleeping away, an R&B sax player making film noir, and a drummer pretending to be an 808. Labelling them is a difficult task. They sound brutal and sophisticated; wild and elegant; direct and complex; twisted and very simple. You need to listen, and sweat, to them to find out.

Four years ago, a group of musicians operating in very different scenes in Madrid got together in order to start a project in which each member would leave their usual stomping ground to become an outsider, to do something different, to make feral and eclectic music. They found a basis in the Carne Cruda radio show, the host of which, Javier Gallego 'Crudo', was one of the founders of Forastero.

The original idea was to make instrumental music and find their way in the troposphere, and with this first single, things are starting to get rolling.
